When i was 13/14 i used to go on holiday to bridlington and there was fishery there i cant remember its name. It was kind of in a forest.

You drove down a road to get to it and there was a council tip just of that road. then into the woods and down into the carpark for it. as you drove in there was two small ponds, not for fishing could be mistaken for puddles either side of the entrance

It had 3 ponds i think.

any ideas? i wouldnt mind going back there.

Woldgate Fishery, also imaginatively known as Fishponds.

When you get to the first traffic lights in Brid, coming from Driffield, go straight on heading towards Scarborough on the bypass.

After just 100 yards or so, turn left up a narrow road, Woldgate. The Council Tip has been relocated, and you'll pass a travellers' camp on the right hand side. carry straight on for about a mile, and 100 yards past the remains of what looks like a broken brick archway, turn right down the signed track.

Lovely spot. Used to be owned and run by a guy called John Nadin, who was a bit of a quirky individual, and lived in a log cabin he'd constructed himself from felled trees on the site.

It's slightly more commercialised now, with caravans and tents, and it's a bit annoying to get there at opening time to find campers' chairs already occupying the best pegs on the big pond (the open bay opposite the rhododendrons on the island).

But I prefer the back pond anyway, the one which is nearest Woldgate, there are some gorgeous, infuriating crucians in there !

I visited this place a few times when I was younger and also remember the owner being a bit of a 'character'. I was happily fishing one day and a few lads further up the bank were fooling about, anyway a short time passed and the owner seemed to appear out of nowhere and gave me a massive 'ticking off' - even though these lads had nothing to do with me. I boycotted the place after that Has the ownership changed now then?

I found the site below which might help a little.
