Am jealous Dave, would love to be there early doors. Normally get there for first light myself. Gutted I have to wait for the shop, although am struggling with a throat infection so a lay in might help. Will be there come what may though. My first outing of the season.
great to see so many EBAS members on here, have always found it a friendly club.
Rookery, a 15lb carp there isn't far off the best. Had one myself the season before last at that weight and the bailiff told me that the biggest out until then was 19lbs. So big congrats to your son, result! Alas my photo's have been taken off the EBAS website, otherwise I could have shown you the fish. |

I've got that very excited feeling about the first day of the season (for me) right now. Just gutted I couldn't be there for the sun rising. Can't wait to cast a line. |

went down Nursery today
Fished peg just down from the first gap
Wasted an hour trying to get them up in the water after pinging pellets for an hour with just one bite i came in to my six mtr line
Started to get a few small raoch on soft pellet changed to a Six mm hard white sensas then started to get a few better roach had one barbel and a skimmer then swim just switched off i thougt bigger fish had moved in so changed to meat with no response after 5 mins chopping and changing could not get a bite o n anything
So moved to my right hand swim where i had been feeding sloppy paste Straight away i was into a fish a small tench of about 6 ozs
It was then a fish a bung for the next 3 hours i managed to get them under my feet so just using a top 2 feeding a liitle slop every other cast with either soft pellet or a small piece of paste on the hook I had loads of tench from 2oz to 2lb Six proper bream nice bronze backs around the 3lb mark plus loads of quality Roach another couple of Barbel and 1 Crucian
No proper Carp but Hey HO had around 40lb of silvers so can't moan at that

Hi guys,
Sorry for the late reply!
Dave's right it was very crowded last Wednesday, so choice of swims wasn't great unfortunately. I got down there about 10.30 and was a bit further up to the right of the disabled swims. Dave you didn't have a camera with you did you mate? I've got a feeling we might have had a chat without realising! I think I might have been one peg up from you actually! I should have worn my Maggotdrowners hoodie :0)
It would be fair to say I was somewhat rusty after a while not fishing, missed a lot of really good bites. Did manage to put a few in the net but certainly nothing as prolific as other days I've had there. Did manage my first ever Barbel which I was chuffed to bits with though! Had another two as well along with a tench, lots of Roach and Perch. Nothing massive, but a couple of lovely golden coloured Roach late on.
They were feeding on the drop, every handful of maggots I threw in was immediately gobbled up just below the surface. I did pull out of a very decent looking carp but think it would ultimately have smashed me up to be honest.
Was a lovely day though (until the rain about 3.30). Will defo be trying to get out this weekend, would love to do a river but not sure which one to try as yet. |
