Fish Apex again today and it was nowhere near as productive as the last session I got on peg4 again at 5:30am and it produced me a nice mirror about 7lb and 8 good bream and only 4 skimmers No roach! Fished the meat again over a bed of micro's They didnt want to know soft or banded pellet or paste at all. Got to about 11:30 and the bites dried up totally didnt have anything else so gave in at 3 o'clock. Got home and realised I had burnt my ugly face 'but it felt so cold even though it was sunny and Westerly wind in my face AGAIN!! Didnt see many carp coming out Peg 2, 3, 5, and 6 were taken and on 42 a guy walked away with the blankety blank cheque book!! Not a holiday maker looked like he had all the match gear and on pole all day!! Strange....
How much have the levels dropped this week, as pegs 1-3 were under an inch or so of water last monday and the path near the park was flooded.? It can be a right iffy place on high water, coupled with the fish getting close to spawning, it will be hit and miss. The roach are not so keen either when levels up. As for the matches, cant remember if you just turn up so prob best to ask in thyers. If you do fish the matches, you may suprise yourself how much 'extra' you feel you have put in. Just keep things simple, do your own thing and be confident. You'll be fine, even if you do poo, it'll help your fishing.
Cheers for that Lee it has already boosted my confidence saying those few words of wisdom and your right it will do my fishing the world of good really instead of just trying to beat my PB's. The water level is about just touching the underside of the platform on peg 4 so you could say about 4 inch's down since Monday last and it still has alot of colour too. I tend to fish the waggler mainly But do own quite a few poles so maybe I should start and brush the dust of them again and get my eye in again on them for the margin's on the sweep stake. I usually pop into Thyer's on a Monday even if I only spend a tenner it is a tenner more to keep the place going and we would be lost without it... so I will ask Russ about the matches on apex and get the info on enrolments or the sorts of.

Yep, get your pole out fella......but the wag can be deadly, especially around the island pegs, if the sun is warm and fish are mooching near the surface. Oh and the method feeder will have it's place along the line somewhere.
At the end of the day, the only person you will let down is you.....and only you can sit at the top of your tree with a smile on your face. So you'll want to give 100% effort.....lol. And as you've not match fished before, these evening sweeps is a safe route on a water you know. 1 feeder, 2 pole/waggler lines will suffice. |

| Mmmmm Best get some practise in then ehh I think I'll start on the margin first on the mid 30s' pegs next week. I noticed today there is some sort of head of carp along that bank between peg 31 and 35 and the weather looks half decent next week for a couple of evening sessions on um' Good job I fitted some pullers on my margin poles this season as I intended to use them on trinity when the carp are really havin there.. I got a bit of a buzz already bout this sweep. lol |

Top 2 always on Tile, 01278445221 Can't do this thursday as off to BRI(Hosp) pm, but think I'll pop down next week, though not so good on the whiskered ones as silvera, though had enough on the old codgers so I'll probably fish the same just up the laccy, think they may spawn soon.
There was the B league top 2 last weekend 80+ won it! 50 up on ours(A) week before. Silvers have spawned on brick and carp are in the reeds by 10-11 eating the spawn.

No, always been on tile, they reckon that's better at close in fishing, certainly I've had more margin lumps on there than Brick, though not as much as Eric or Steve etc who always seem come up with a couple. Rotate Thursday as you say and ol' farts on Monday, won't do either this week as busy but maybe next. Good luck tonight Lee

I drew peg 12 on brick...should have fished alot better than i did,i fished like a numpty. I should have set up a pellet waggler. But this whole pellet fishing isnt something i have really done, never the pellet wag either. I fished meat over 4mm feed, had loads of knocks etc, small fish belting around. The small fish were right in the edge and the carp were, i think, eating the fry near the surface all over.
But the fishing was iffy, lots of bream rolling and plenty of carp too. But as they have been spawning, maybe the carp have had enough spawn and filled themselves up. I had 4 or so carp, maybe 30lb-ish, but tipped them back, where that would have been, i dont know. i didnt stay for the totals. |

| I am fine with the theory james, just never used it, never had to, but i will just fish it like i do when fishing meat shallow, just use pellet instead. The feeding shouldnt be a prob though, am pretty sure i will be ok. |

The meat is cracking on Brick when it gets warmer, the kids use it on the lead and catch loads, I use it short for skimmers but wait 'till they are on it as sometimes takes a while. Up 'till last week worm was carching everything, it'll change to pellet soon even though you can catch on it now. I can't remember his name but there was a lad from Bristol last season that would would ONLY fish the pellet splasher on Thursday and he did win a lot of them, not my thing like you Lee but I did win one on Tile with 65+ on it, but the fish were surrendering, another angler would have done a ton and half. May get down next week, have to give Monday a miss. Shiplate sunday.

Think jamie was fishing the pellet wag or splash waggler. And i know Tom Magnall does well on it too. Not my thing, but sometimes needs must (reluctantly)
Loads of bream were showing all over, nice sized ones too. Should fish well this weekend. Next week looks alot warmer and brighter so that may bring the meat and pellet into play more, hopefully the margins too. |
