Driving between jobs yesterday i was unfortunate enough to witness a very disturbing sight. I was driving down seven sisters rd when some idiot on a mobile phone steps into the middle of the road.
some poor guy on a moped has to swerve to avoid him and crashes into a parked van. several people rushed to the guys aid, I was a bit shaken and pulled over. The paramedics arrived and seeing them strip the guy to the waist and start treating him.
I,d seen more than i wanted to see by then and gave my number to a policeman as a witness and left. (there were literally about fifty people that also witnessed this)
Since found out today that the poor guy didnt make it. he must have only been 19/20 years old, apparantly his neck was snapped on impact.
it leads me to think, so much is made about driving whilst using a phone, surely something should be done about crossing the road as well?? Its not the first time i,ve seen a pedestrian oblivious as they chat away on a mobile whilst crossing a road, nearly being run over...
Sadly now a family is grieving for a young man, who through no fault of his own became a victim of somebodys careless dangerous actions

That's bloody tragic Keith.
I Pods are another one, people wander around listening to them totally unaware of what's going on around them.

That is tragic Keith,
Only today I watched a guy walking along texting, he almost bumped in to someone, seen it a lot they get oblivious to what is around them.

Wow, we almost typed the same remark Peter.

Somewhere, ticking away at the back of my brain is the very strong idea that the pedestrian MAY have committed an offence here, particularly considering the severity of the circumstances, and could be prosecuted ... subject to witnesses?
Reckless endangerment or something ... or maybe that's just me wishful thinking?
Surely, if an action of yours, ANY action, contributes to the death of another, you MUST be answerable in law?

There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the bank like an idiot.

If this is it, it might be worth ringing the number at the bottom, just in case your details didn't get through to the right people.
