- England Win World Championships. After finishing fourth behind the Italians on the first day, the English showed their true mettle on Sunday when they stormed to win the second day with just 19 penalty points on a rock hard venue which saw many class anglers fail to catch.
This was England's first gold medal on French soil and you have to look back to the Chalon sur Saone event in 1973 when they scored a bronze team medal.
Final Team Result: 1st Drennan England 68 pts, 2nd France 72 pts.

- The British record Carp known as Two Tone, caught in April at 59lb 7oz by Terry Glebioska, has been banked again by Mark Toland at 59lb 12oz.
The huge mirror was taken from Conningbrook Lake, the mid Kent fisheries-controlled water that lies near Ashford, Kent.
The fish accepted sweetcorn. Unfortunately it doesn't look as though Mark will be claiming the record as in-order to do so his weighing scales need verifying as accurate at a cost of 80.00.

Countryside Alliance Campaigns Manager Dale Rutter, Youth Development Officer, Gavin Sinkowski and Area PRO John Haigh had a very useful meeting with Officials of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and Phoenix Sports & Social Club, the owners of Ravenfield Park Lakes on 11th September to form a partnership on a youth angling project within the South Yorkshire Coalfields Health Action Zone.
Youngsters aged from 10 to 14 years old from schools in the Rotherham area will be given the opportunity to try fishing with tuition from CA fishing guru Charles Jardine and other well-known
experts. The event will take place on Monday October 22nd at Ravenfield Park, near Rotherham, which is a haven for wildlife and comprises a series of ponds and woodland ideally suited for the promotion of youth angling projects.

- 10,719 was raised by 104 Anglers fishing a 'Sponsored Fish-in' from Friday 7th September, through to Sunday 9th September ant RMC Angling's Yateley Complex in Hampshire. The beneficiary of the event was Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Allan Stone of 'Stoney and Friends Charity Fund Raisers' was responsible for the organisation of what turned out to be the largest event and money raiser to-date having run similar fundraisers over the previous five years. Plans for the next year are a Pike, a Barbel and another 'Yateley Fish-in' spread throughout the year.
